Video editor
A video editor is a technically inclined individual that is involved with making creative video editing decisions in the post-production of film making and video production. The video editor's responsibilities involve decisions about the selection and combining of shots into sequences, and the addition of accompanying sound effects and music to ultimately create a finished movie, television program, commercial, promo, or snipe.
A video editor can also refer to a computer device controller that controls video machines to mechanically put pieces of a film together using a 9-Pin Protocol. This is also referred to as machine to machine or linear editing.
Video editors usually use non-linear editing software today to accomplish the task of editing.

Video editing software
Video editing software is an application software which handles the post-production video editing of digital video sequences on a computer non-linear editing system (NLE). It has replaced traditional flatbed celluloid film editing tools and analogue video tape-to-tape online editing machines.
NLE software is typically based on a timeline interface paradigm where sections of moving image video recordings, known as clips, are laid out in sequence and played back. The NLE offers a range of tools for trimming, splicing, cutting and arranging clips across the timeline. As digital NLE systems have advanced their toolset, their role has expanded and most consumer and professional NLE systems alike now include a host of features for colour manipulation, titling and visual effects, as well as tools for editing and mixing audio synchronized with the video image sequence.
Once a project is complete, the NLE system can then be used to export to movie in a variety of formats in context which may range from broadcast tape formats to compressed file formats for the Internet, DVD and mobile devices.

In this step-by-step tutorial, learn about the best 5 free video editors.
First, I show you how to use a video editor that comes for free with Windows 10. The Windows 10 free video editor is a basic editor that can produce nice videos. However, there are some drawbacks.
Next, we look at the OpenShot video editor. OpenShot is easy to use, quick to learn, and a surprisingly powerful video editor. Next, we review ShotCut video editor. Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux.
We then look at Kdenlive, another free and open-source video editor that's easy to use.
Lastly, we look at the video editor that I personally use, DaVinci Resolve 17. DaVinci Resolve is divided into "pages," each of which gives you a dedicated workspace and tools for a specific task. Editing is done on the cut and edit pages, visual effects and motion graphics on the Fusion page, color correction on the color page, audio on the Fairlight page, and media organization and output on the media and deliver pages.
At the end, we also take a quick look at a few other noteworthy mentions, including VSDC Video Editor, HitFilm Express, and VideoPad.

Video editor
A video editor is a technically inclined individual that is involved with making creative video editing decisions in the post-production of film making and video production. The video editor's responsibilities involve decisions about the selection and combining of shots into sequences, and the addition of accompanying sound effects and music to ultimately create a finished movie, television program, commercial, promo, or snipe.
A video editor can also refer to a computer device controller that controls video machines to mechanically put pieces of a film together using a 9-Pin Protocol. This is also referred to as machine to machine or linear editing.
Video editors usually use non-linear editing software today to accomplish the task of editing.
